About the book:
Paperback; 245 pages
Pastor Don Piper died January 18, 1989 when a semi-tractor truck crushed his car.  Declared dead by the first rescue workers to arrive on the scene, Don's body lay under a tarp for the next 90 minutes.  Don's soul, meanwhile, was experiencing love, joy, and life like he'd never known before.  Don was in Heaven.

When another pastor's prayers helped bring Don back to life, he became a living miracle!  Yet this is one miracle Don wished never happened.  Heaven's bliss was replaced by excruciating pain and emotional turmoil.  With the support and prayers of his beloved Eva, their three kids, and friends near and far, Don clings to his faith in God and fights to regain a semblance of his previous life.  The Piper family's incredible true story of perseverance and overcoming the challenges of life - and death - will bring hope and encouragement to all who see it.

In my opinion:

I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity of reviewing the book, 90 minutes in Heaven. It was spectacular and I'm excited to see the film. I was able to view an exclusive link to the opening scene of the movie which was amazing. I actually thought I was going to see the entire film. I failed to read the entire email from my sponsor so I was a little disappointed but I know I'll be seeing the movie soon. 90 minutes in Heaven will be in theaters starting on September 11th so only a few short days away. However, I felt that one should read the book first to get all of the details before watching the movie.

The book was hard to put down. It was inspiring and well written. I know we go through challenges and experiences for a reason and in Don's case, it was to lift others up. He went through so much but in the end was able to help thousands or even millions. It was a touching and moving story of death and life. I'm planning on sending my copy to my cousin who recently lost her mom (my Aunt). I felt that it will lift up her spirits and help her know her mom is in a better place waiting for her arrival. Heaven is a wonderful place and I look forward to when I will greet all of my loved ones. I'm grateful for eternal families and know that we will all be together again. I know I'll be here a long time and even joke that I'll make it to 100. So, we need to make the most of our journey here on earth. We need to look forward feasting upon the words of Christ. We can be uplifted through other people's experiences and who knows we may relate in some way.

One suggestion I have is for Don's wife to write a story or book. It would be nice to read her perspective of being the caretaker. I'm about 90% caretaker to my two year old daughter, Elizabeth. She has epilepsy, microcephaly and polymicrogyria. She is on many medications and has a g-tube. It is very challenging but well worth it to have her in my life. I felt like Eva in the story. There was a bit about Eva's thoughts so I appreciated reading it.

Overall, I appreciated reading Don's story of death and life. I highly recommend reading 90 minutes in Heaven. It was definitely worth my time and time is precious these days.
