In Emilee's opinion:

Kevin Hall is brilliant and clever. I loved reading the introduction page where Kevin explained that the sculptures he designed have the same parts that are included in the Lego sets you purchase in the store. Perfect! I thought it would be fun to give these two books to my seven year old for Christmas and then have him choose bricks from the Lego store or perhaps I'll buy a few beforehand and give it to him along with the books. But, I'm sure he has many of the bricks already in his collection to create any of the models. In this book, there is anything from a log cabin to a flying house to a gingerbread house. My favorite was the ice castle and the gingerbread house. Oh wait, but I loved the pumpkin house. There were 40 original models and step by step instructions for each project. Also, if you don't have the correct parts, don't worry. You can use whatever your heart desires and re-create in your own special way.

In Emilee's opinion:

Brick Beasts included a variety of mythological and fantastical beasts. This book was also creative and fun. I know my son will love this book for Christmas. I loved the zombie, elf, and red dragon. Each model included photo list of supplies and step by step instructions. This book also included 40 original models. You do have to pay attention to the step by step instructions so you won't miss anything. But, it is very similar to the Lego instructions so I'm pretty sure you won't get lost. Again, I was blown away with the variety of beasts that were included in this book. Very well done!
