These four books were a perfect solution for summer boredom in my home. Each book was the perfect size and was packed full of information and activities. First, the 1001 + Fantastic facts about animals had six sections including Animal bodies, Animal habitats, On the move, Senses and Communication, Friends and Enemies, and Babies and Homes. The pictures were engaging and colorful. So, my son read that "Hummingbirds can fly backwards." Then he heard the question on tv and was able to answer it. I loved that the books were pocket sized. I also loved reading about Zebra Stallions who neck wrestle. "When a zebra male is challenged, a battle begins" and is called a zebra combat. Did you know that Macaws live for up to 80 years? Second, the 1001 + Fantastic facts about science included information about living things, earth and space, your body, matter and reactions, inventions and discoveries and invisible science. Of course, I was most interested in the earth and space section. Did you know that, "Astronauts get taller in space. The spine expands when it's not being pulled down by Earth's gravity and Astronauts in orbit around Earth see a fresh sunrise every 90 minutes." How cool is that? There were so many interesting and fun facts about science. Third, Math Games for clever kids was perfect for my son who LOVES math. The math problems were challenging and were definitely "designed to bamboozle your brain." Each puzzle had a space for you to write the time it took for you to complete the problem. I loved the simple illustrations. Fourth, Brain Gaming for clever kids is another fun book for kids to challenge themselves. This book contained over 100 brain gaming puzzles such as sodoku, picture puzzles, word pyramids, grid squares and so much more. Learning is so important to me so I appreciated all of these books from Barron's. I definitely recommend any of these four books especially when you child is bored at home.
