General Conference Study Schedule Week 14: The Power of the Book ofMormon by President Thomas S. Monson

President Monson has been one of my favorite speakers and presidents of the church. His talk titled, The Power of the Book of Mormon was quick but straight to the point. I loved his talk and thought that it was inspired. He spoke from his heart and I especially loved what Dieter F. Uchtdorf said in his talk later that afternoon, "I am especially grateful for the presence of our beloved prophet, Thomas S. Monson. President, we will always take to heart your words of direction, counsel, and wisdom. We love you, President Monson, and we always pray for you." You could tell that Dieter F. Uchtdorf stands behind President Monson. He sustains him as President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we should too.

Throughout this blog post, I'll post some adorable quotes that you could use as part of your RS lesson or VT message. Be sure to click on the link and then simply print it out.

I love how he started his talk with a simple sentence...

Questions:

What is one CRITICAL thing we must do everyday? Study, ponder and apply the Book of Mormon teachings in our lives.

How do we gain the power of the Book of Mormon? We must gain a firm and sure testimony of the Book of Mormon.

What will protect us from the sin and evil in the world today? A strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ and of His gospel will help see us through to safety.

Monson said, "If you are not reading the Book of Mormon each day, please do so. If you will read it prayerfully and with a sincere desire to know the truth, the Holy Ghost will manifest its truth to you.

Testimony: If it is true and I solemnly testify that it is, then Joseph Smith was a prophet who saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Because the Book of Mormon is true, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church on the earth, and the holy priesthood of God has been restored for the benefit and blessing of His children.

He also said that if you don't have a testimony of these things, do that which is necessary to obtain one. It is ESSENTIAL for you to have your own testimony in these difficult times, for the testimonies of others will carry you only so far. Once obtained, a testimony needs to be kept vital and alive through continued obedience to the commandments of God and through daily prayer and scripture study.

Prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. That way you will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear and to receive heaven's help in our lives.

Although his talk was short, he gave us profound guidance as to what we MUST do each day to protect us from wickedness. And believe me, we need it. I'm so grateful for President Thomas S. Monson and I know he is a true prophet of God.
