Arlington, VA –May 22, 2018 – Today, PBS Distribution announced the release of the first DVD of the popular PBS KIDS series SPLASH AND BUBBLES, “SPLASH AND BUBBLES: ONE BIG OCEAN.”The new DVD features the four-part story One Big Ocean, where Splash, Bubbles, and friends embark on a Reeftown Rangers exploration adventure. On the adventure, the group meets different characters, like Scoot, a sea turtle who is riding the currents, and they discover exciting places along the way. Other stories on the DVD include: “Kelp Forest Keepers,” “The Greatest Treasure of All,” and the bonus music video “Reeftown Rangers.”

SPLASH AND BUBBLES: ONE BIG OCEAN” ($6.99) will be available on DVD beginning June 12, 2018, and has a run time of approximately 80 minutes. Episodes of SPLASH AND BUBBLES are also available for digital download.

In “SPLASH AND BUBBLES: ONE BIG OCEAN” kids dive in and follow the adventures of Splash, a yellowback fusilier fish who has migrated all over the ocean before settling down in Reeftown! There he befriends Bubbles, a Mandarin dragonet whose vivid coloring matches her personality. Together, Splash, Bubbles and their friends meet wildly diverse marine animals and discover otherworldly undersea habitats. Children will explore the big ocean with Splash and Bubble in the six fun filled stories listed below.

“One Big Ocean: Part 1 – Reeftown Rangers”

When Splash invites Ripple, Bubbles and Dunk on a Reeftown Rangers exploration adventure, the friends worry that Splash will find another home out there in the big ocean and move on from Reeftown.

“One Big Ocean: Part 2 – Riding the Currents”

Splash and his friends meet Scoot, a young sea turtle who is riding the currents. As Reeftown Rangers, the group wants to help the mischievous turtle on his journey and see some new places along the way!

“One Big Ocean: Part 3 – The Fixer-Upper”

Still traveling with Scoot and looking for Flo’s home beach, Splash recalls hearing about a beautiful reef nearby – perhaps that’s where Flo’s home is. They’re all surprised when the once lush reef turns out to have become a ghost reef. Splash and friends, as Reeftown Rangers, stay to help the one remaining Parrotfish save the reef, realizing that if harm can come to this reef, it can happen to any reef, including Reeftown.

“One Big Ocean: Part 4 – No Place Like Home!”

Splash and his friends end their journey, returning home to Reeftown, where they are delighted to see that Splash now knows that although there are fun adventures to be found all over their “One Big Ocean,” Reeftown is home to him.

“Kelp Forest Keepers”

Splash, Dunk and Bubbles spend the day with Tidy, the Garibaldi Fish, as “kelp forest keepers.” Tidy’s desire to have everything “just so” conflicts with Bubbles, Dunk and Splash’s desire to have fun exploring the kelp forest.

“The Greatest Treasure of All”

After the kids hunt for treasure and compare what they’ve found, Flo explains that she knows the location of a wonderful treasure that came from above the surface. Since the kids want to find it, Flo sets them out on a mysterious journey and if they follow her directions, the treasure will be waiting for them.

In Emilee's opinion:

Splash and Bubbles was very entertaining. There were six stories and each one had songs that were fun to sing (be sure to turn on your subtitles so you can sing along). I enjoyed watching Splash and Bubbles because it was about making friends in the ocean or wherever you go. In one of the episodes, Splash wanted to go on an epic adventure but his friends wanted to show him that they could have their own adventures right at home. The characters were adorable. There was a yellow back fusilier fish named Splash, Ripple the Seahorse, a mandarin dragonet named Bubbles and Dunk the pufferfish. They journey across the sea and meet new friends along the way. They learn how to work together to restore a reef. My husband watched an episode with us and mentioned that the graphics weren't eye catching. The fish were animated well but there wasn't anything else to see and children need a ton of graphics to keep them entertained. I agreed. Overall, Splash and Bubbles was a cute show and taught us the importance of friendship and working together.

In Emilee's opinion:

I've been a fan of Dinosaur Train since I watched it years ago with my son. I felt that Dinosaur Train is a positive influence on my children and I enjoyed watching this new one called, Meeting New Friends. There are eight stories included and each one we learn more about dinosaur life and about how fun it is to meet new friends. The Pteranodon family took a family trip to meet a Tyrannosaur who was similar to Buddy. My favorite episode was Tiny and the Crocodile because they met a crocodile named Deanna Dienosuchas. They probably should have been afraid of her but instead they found similarities and became friends (thankfully she had a big meal right before they met). Overall, Dinosaur Train: Meeting new friends was packed full of science, natural history and of course dinosaurs. I loved the adventures the Pteranodon family went on and the new information I learned. I definitely recommend any Dinosaur Train DVD.
